Parag Saxena is a global investor who leads Vedanta Capital, as its Founding CEO and heads NSR Partners an India focused growth capital firm he co-founded in 2008. Over the span of his three and a half decades long career in investing, Parag has been a part of teams that have collectively made investments in companies valued around $US 500 billion that have created hundreds of thousands of jobs. A chemical engineer by training Parag entered the professional world through management consulting and medical devices after which he found his calling in Finance and the world of investing through Citigroup and eventually went to lead Invesco Private Capital for 23 years. Parag played a key role in leading over 90 investments including the likes of Amgen, Costco, PictureTel, Polycom, Staples and Starbucks.
His work routine includes meeting young entrepreneurs whom he regularly invites over to his office for lunch and discussions with policy makers and academicians to help solve problems or to improve frameworks for common good. He has served on a number of committees as an advisor to various Indian Government leaders in helping them to make more informed and strategic decisions on foreign direct investing. He has also provided key insights and recommendations to the representatives of the U.S. Congress. He is also on the Global Advisory Board of the Wilson Center in Washington D.C. and on the Economic Advisory Council for the Center on American Progress. Parag serves on the advisory board of the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for the Advanced Study of India and of Brown University. He has served on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Applied Sciences Advisory Panel responsible for attracting Cornell University to New York. Parag engages with science, technology & medicine with the same ease as he does with philosophy, poetry and the culinary arts. Curious about the interface of genomics and artificial intelligence, he also investigates the benefits of various holistic and complementary medical regimens. Passionate about skiing and tennis, Parag is constantly looking to scale new peaks in life.
A Distinguished Alumnus from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Parag Saxena did his Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of West Virginia and went on to do his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
